
The National Curriculum
The English primary school curriculum is defined by the Government as the National Curriculum. The curriculum is compulsory for all children but can be adapted or modified for children with special educational needs. The curriculum has two parts:
The Core Curriculum
The Foundation Curriculum
The Core Curriculum is:
English, Mathematics, Science and ICT
The Foundation Curriculum is:
Art and Design, Music, History, Geography, Design Technology, Physical Education
A Modern Foreign Language is to be introduced by September 2010- this will be French at Guillemont and we have already started teaching this
Religious Education is compulsory but parents can request for their child to be withdrawn
