This is Week 4

Mrs Helen Smith (ELSA) will be available by phone between 9am and 12pm every week day. Her priority will be for contact with the children she usually works with. If parents or carers require help, please contact Mrs Smith betwen 1pm and 3pm. The number to call is 07563384044. Please be patient and please only call at the appropriate time.

We have set work to ensure there is enough for everyone to do. There is an expectation that children attempt the work as it has been pitched at an approriate level. You can talk to your child's class teacher if there are any issues when they next call or email the school.

Summer Term Work Additional Things:

Check out the new foundation subjects activites - French Cookbook, science experiemnts!

Teachers and LSAs will continue to call the children at home. They will also set work on MyMaths, Bug Club and Purple Mash. This will be set by the class teachers for their classes. Please encourage children to use the 'Class Blog' on Purple Mash.

The teachers would appreciate you encouraging children to read for 10 minutes every day. It would be good if some one could read to them as well. Research shows that a male role model has a very positive effect! Additionally, children need to practice the times tables 1s to 12s. The Government expects all children to be able to recall multiplication facts up to 12 x12 by the end of Yr4. Children in Yr3 should know their 1s, 2s, 5s,10s, 4s, 8s and 3s by the end of the school year. The recommended sequence to learn times tables is: 2s, 5s, 10s, 4s, 8s, 3s, 6s, 9s, 7s, 11s and 12s. Remember that 1 x anything is itself and 0 x anything is always 0.

Mr Cooper suggests that that children work as independently  as they can on a daily  'I See Maths' video (they know this scheme from school) before you start the set work on the left with them. Foundation Subject work:

French Cookbook: Miss Isaac and Mr Cooper have put together a cookbook for you to print and try. Only challenge, apart from the cooking is that you will need to use use French knowledge to follow the instruction! (There is a translation if you need it) Click here.

PE/Exercise: Children need to be active for 60 minutes a day. Use the NHS Change4Life website for ideas to get your whole family moving from as little as10 minutes a day. Also, if you fancy a bit of Cosmic Kids Yoga, click here.
