We hope you have enjoyed reading about the teaching staff at Guillemont.

At Guillemont we employ more teachers than we have classes. In each department of six classes, we employ seven teachers. This means that in general we cover our own supply when teachers attend courses, are away sick, are engaged in other professional duties like assessment, school improvement projects, leadership responsibilities or additional work with small groups of children. Teachers work and plan in teams and share expertise and best practice.

Mrs Fuller, the Deputy Headteacher leads the teams to ensure that children in each department have equal access to the curriculum and other learning opportunities. Each team of teachers has an extensive range of expertise and skills.

Recent Government reform for teachers states that primary teachers have to have one tenth of their teaching time away from their class in order to carry out some of their professional duties. Our team system at Guillemont means that children are almost always taught by Guillemont teachers who know the children and the curriculum well. This ensures continuity in teaching and learning experiences for children.
