Guillemont Junior School has a Resourced Provision for children with Autism. It opened in the Autumn term of 2024, with 4 children’s places initially; and will expand to 8 places from September 2025. Children’s places are funded from Hampshire Educational Authority and serves Northeast Hampshire. Children with these spaces are allocated through County systems.
This Resourced Provision consists of a main classroom, a sensory room, a smaller teaching room and an enclosed garden. Both the sensory room and garden have a range of features and resources to support sensory and regulation needs.
We follow the National Curriculum, adapted to meet children’s developing academic needs. This is supported through small teaching groups and consolidation through the TEACCH approach (a system to develop children’s independent learning skills). This curriculum is complemented by life skills and social skills; and where possible, we use children’s interests to engage them further in their learning.
Children in the Resourced Provisions are expected to join some lessons in a mainstream class. This helps children develop their social, communication and academic skills. This offer can vary for individuals and is flexible, based on their individual needs and skills. Time in mainstream may increase as children continue through junior school, partly dependent on aspirations for their future schooling.
If you wish to speak to the school’s Resourced Provision Manager, please contact our RP Manager, Ms Ellie Kearsley on 01252 666846.
Please note that whilst we are happy to show you around the Resourced Provision, it is the Local Authority that offers children a place and not the school.
Transport
Several of the children in the resourced provision come to school on school transport, there is set criteria for home school transport. The criteria links to distance from home to school and the age of your child, children are entitled to transport until the term after their fifth birthday. If children are offered transport, it is reviewed on an annual basis when their EHCP is reviewed.
You can find out more information about transport by visiting:

We have a sensory room (Chill-Out Room!) specifically for the children in both Resourced Provisions to access as and when they need to. This is to enable them to self-regulate to get ready for learning!
